SMAP will be holding their first ever overseas concert in Shanghai on October 9th and 10th at the Shanghai Stadium. After filming an episode for their FujiTV program “SMAP X SMAP”, they were interviewed by Shanghai-based reporters about their upcoming concert.
As Kimura is part of the drama series “Tsuki no Koibito” in which he occasionally spoke in Chinese, he was the first one to greet the reporters in the local language. Also, while the group were interviewed, Kimura would randomly respond or talk in Chinese. He shared that he’s been to Shanghai quite a number of times and feels a strong affinity with the city.
SMAP’s leader Nakai Masahiro revealed that in preparation for their concert, they’ve been learning Chinese so they could greet their fans in their mother tongue. To mark the occasion, they shared that they will be singing the Chinese version of their song “Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana”. Of course, since they will be overseas, they will also have the chance to tour around and do other activities. Inagaki Goro said that he’ll try Da Zha Xie (Chinese mitten crab) and plans to bring back some to Japan. Katori Shingo said that he’ll try the famous Xiao Long Bao which is available almost anywhere. Lastly, Nakai said that since most Chinese gets gadgets and electronics in Japan, just for a change, he’ll buy Chinese products.
